School Councils
Kester Council is a group of teachers, parents and administrators who meet once per month to discuss school issues at Kester only.
Categorical Council is the School Site Council (SSC) of teachers, parents and administrators, which reviews the school’s plan and helps establish a yearly budget. Council members are chosen by their peers, so parent representatives must be elected by the parents and guardians of the students. The main task of the council is to develop a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for the school every year. The SPSA covers how the school’s discretionary and categorical funding will be spent to achieve the school's goals.
Compensatory Education Advisory Council (CEAC) is an advisory group of parents, teachers and community members for Title I schools. This group determines how our federal Title I budget will be used to help our students.
English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) advises the principal and staff on matters relating to English language education and funds. Parents of English learners are urged to join this committee.
